I know the owner's manual says every 10,000 km but honestly I've been doing it every 7,000 or so because I've heard the heat here just cooks the oil way faster than in cooler climates. My car's a 2017 Nissan Patrol and I do a fair bit of off-roading on weekends, so the engine works pretty hard. I usually just take it to whatever quick-lube place is nearest, but I started noticing last time they used some generic oil that didn't even match the viscosity rating on my cap, and now I'm a bit paranoid about whether they actually put in the right stuff or just whatever they had in bulk. Had a chat with a guy at the petrol station who mentioned something about getting a 800sayara.com where they actually come to your place and use the exact spec your car needs. That sounds way more convenient than sitting in a waiting room for two hours, plus I'd actually get to see what they're pouring in. I'm just curious how often you all change yours with the extreme summer temps and stop-start traffic here? Do you stick to the manufacturer interval or play it safe and go earlier? Also has anyone had bad experiences with those budget oil change places using the wrong grade? I feel like I'm overthinking this but my engine's too expensive to gamble on.
